DAVAO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 11 have already provided assistance to farmers who are now affected by the dry spell in the Davao region.

As a result, P1.5 billion has been recorded as damage to crops due to the impact of El NiƱo.

Mercedita Jabagat, DSWD 11’s regional director said that they have already provided initial assistance to affected farmers in Davao oriental and assured that they will also assist in the provincial-affected dry spell.

BFAR-11 also assured that fish cage operators will also be provided with assistance especially those provinces who were affected by drought through their P5 million allocated funds.
